Sunflower Painting Workshop

Diamonds & Gold Look, The Grassroots District

Join Promise Sloan for her bold take on flower painting! We will be painting a Sunflower in the style of Van Gogh. All materials are included to paint your masterpiece. No experience necessary, our artists will guide you through. So grab your friends and family and come out and have yourself a great time! Discover the best kept secret in Princeton, a magical labyrinth of medicinal and pollinator plants in Princeton City Park. Learn how and why to start a pollinator garden, and meet and greet with the garden's volunteer steward, Ms. Becky Kidwell.

Guided Plein Air Painting Experience (SOLD OUT)

Camp Creek State Park

En plein air (French pronunciation: ​[ɑ̃ plɛn ɛːʁ], French for outdoors, or plein air painting) is the act of painting outdoors. Artist Lacey Vilandry will lead a plein air painting workshop in the beautiful wildflower fields of Camp Creek State Park. Meet at the Camp Creek State Park amphitheater at 3:30pm and enjoy a beautiful ride up to a remote area of The Forrest. No experience necessary. Cost to attend is $25. Lapboards, canvases and paint will be provided. This event is part of the Peak of the Bloom celebration August 6-15. This event is now SOLD OUT. Picnic in the Park, catered by Bucha Brewhouse & Bistro

Camp Creek State Park , 2390 Co Hwy 19/5, Camp Creek, WV

Enjoy a lovely picnic in the beautiful Camp Creek State Park, catered by Bucha Brewhouse & Bistro, located in the Grassroots District. Enjoy live music and a delicious meal. Guided Photo Hike (FULL)

Award Winning Photographer Steve Jessee of Associated Photography will lead us on a guided photo exclusion through the beautiful and remote fields of wildflowers at Camp Creek State Park. Enjoy a beautiful wagon ride up to the special spot! Meet at Associated Photography at 813 Mercer Street at 1 p.m. or at Camp Creek State Park Amphitheater at 1:30 p.m. * Free of Charge but PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED* This event is NOW FULL. Enjoy a special Concert in Dick Copeland Town Square in The Grassroots District with Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road with Lilly Comer. The concert is Free & open to the public, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs & picnic blankets, and enjoy dining, strolling the shops, creative activities and all our blossoming neighborhood has to offer. Head to Camp Creek State Park, stop at the office for guidance or just follow the signs to the fields of wildflowers! The fields are about a mile and 1/2 hike, moderately strenuous. Creative Writing Showcase

The Hatter's Bookshop, 935 Mercer Street , Princeton, WV

Listen or share your creative writing in the theme of wildflowers in the relaxed & inspiring venue of The Hatter's Bookshop. Leading into Peak of the Bloom, the bookshop will host a series of workshops to prepare writings. Learn from Ed Davis on Saturday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m., Rob Merritt on Saturday, June 1 at 2:30 p.m. and Monday, June 17 at 6:00 p.m. and Neva Bryan on Saturday, July 13 at 3:00 p.m. Seating is limited to eight and the cost is $15 per person for the workshops. Learn from these great teachers and prepare a piece to share at the showcase August 24th!

Woodland Wonders from the Wilds of WV- A Talk with Barry Glick

As part of the Peak of the Bloom Finale Celebration in the Grassroots District, native plant expert Barry Glick of Sunshine Farm & Gardens will give a talk called "WOODLAND WONDERS FROM THE WILDS OF WEST VIRGINIA"- an enlightening, entertaining and educational look at some of the plants that we overlook on our woodland hikes. Some of the most interesting and unusual wildflowers are growing in our own backyards right under our noses. Join us for a fascinating wild wander into the wonderful world of woodland wildflowers! Wildflower Poetry Night at Appalachian Coffee House

This workshop will be led by Tiffany Freed in a step by step process to create your own Sunflower tray. The elegant two-handled design makes this tray as functional as it is cute!
