Two creative contests will be featured as part of the inaugural Peak of the Bloom celebration: A photography contest hosted by Princeton Camera Club and Associated Photography and a songwriting contest hosted by The RiffRaff Arts Collective in downtown Princeton, West Virginia. See details below.
Princeton Camera Club hosts the inaugural Peak of the Bloom Photo Contest! The theme is West Virginia wildflowers. Categories are ages 8-16 and 16 & up. Winners will receive ribbons and prizes and will be exhibited at the Grand Finale celebration August 24th in the Grassroots District. The deadline for entries is August 19, the Monday following the guided photo hike. Contact Steve Jessee at Associated Photography at (304) 425-3588 for more information.
The inaugural Peak of the Bloom Songwriting Contest begins now! The theme is, of course, wildflowers, and the style is wide open. Solo artists as well as bands may enter. The top prize winner will receive a prize package including $500 and a recording session at Audible Art Studios. Runners-up will receive recording sessions for their songs. Finalists will have the opportunity to showcase at 2 celebrations during Peak Of The Bloom on Saturday, August 18 and Saturday, August 24.
Preliminary rounds will be judged by a panel of music professionals based on video submissions and lyric sheets. Submissions are due June 15. Semi-finalists will be announced July 1 and their videos will be posted on the Peak of the Bloom website. An online public voting process will represent 25% of the scoring process. Finalists will be announced August 1 and they will compete in a live concert to kick off Peak of the Bloom on Friday, August 16th in The Room Upstairs in the Grassroots District of downtown Princeton, West Virginia.
